** Description |
The Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) has obtained US$ 40 Million loan from the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) toward the cost of rehabilitation and improvements of roads under National Roads improvement projects. The project consisted Rehabilitation and Improvements of following 3 Roads having total length of 36.57 km and Reconstruction of Bridge No.3/2 across Ma Oya on Polgahawela Kegalle Road. The proposed bridge is 120m in length and has two standard lanes with foot walks on both sides. All these roads spread in Sabaragamuwa, Western and North western provinces.
- Rakwana- Madampe section of Galle Deniyaya-Madampe(A-017) Road (130.00 143.93 km)
- Reconstruction of bridge No.3/2 of A019 Road (Karandana Bridge) (length120.0m)
- Eheliyagoda - Dehiovita section of Eheliyagoda - Dehiovita(B-110) Road (00.00-16.69km)
- Ethulkotte - Kohuwala section of Ethulkotte-Mirihana-Kohuwala(B - 120) Road (0.00 5.95 km)
In line with the Governments Poverty alleviations plan proposed project aims at improving the road network connectivity in order to meet the rapidly growing transport sector demands through road widening, rehabilitation, improvement and bridge construction. The project is envisaged to reduce vehicle operating cost to enhance the highways capacity and level of service, thus promoting economic activity and community development in the areas. This will thereby contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
At the end of 2016, Reconstruction of bridge No. 3/2 of Polgahawela to Kegalle (A019) Road (Karandana Bridge), Ethulkotte - Kohuwala section of Ethulkotte-Mirihana-Kohuwala (B-120) Road and Rakwana to Madampe section of Galle Deniyaya Madampe Road, Eheliyagoda Dehiovita section of Ehaliyagoda-Dehiovita (B-110) Road have been completed.
After completing above mentioned projects, considering the savings in the fund, Peradeniya Badulla Chenkaladi Road section from (0.42 km 3.05 km) proposed to commence in 2017 and road was commenced on 09/06/2017. |

** Description |

The project consist Rehabilitation and Improvements of 13 Roads having total length of 60 km and widening of Bridge No.2/1 on Nawala Narahenpita Nugegoda Road having span 34.14 m in Colombo District.

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) has provided a SAR 225 Mn. under the loan number 9/574 for the implementation of Road Network Development Project and loan agreement has signed on 30th October 2012.
There is a loan balance exist after completion of the original scope of the aforesaid loan agreement. Therefore it is proposed to utilize the anticipated balance loan amount to reconstruct bridges No. 4/3, 6/1 and 6/2 on Orugodawatta – Ambatale Road. Reconstruction of these bridges will enhance the mobility and facilitate for smooth traffic flow on Orugodawatta – Ambatale Road by addressing the future traffic congestion. |
